Wedding Make-up

If you prefer to stick to natural tones and soft shades, your wedding day shouldn’t be any different. Follow our step-by-step for a subtle, feminine look that will look great in photographs.

Step 1: Prep skin

Prep skin with an eye serum and facial serum to hydrate skin and leave it soft and glowing. Next, smooth a primer over the T-Zone to reduce shine and set skin ready for make up.

Step 2: Apply the Base

Blend a high coverage foundation (we used Teint Idole Ultra Wear in shade 025) all over the face, starting from the centre and working outwards, down the neck and chest. Buff for a lighter coverage and pat the product to add more coverage.

Top Tip: Don’t forget about the ears, neck and décolleté! Use what’s left on the brush to buff over the ears and neck to neutralise redness and to keep skin tone consistent.

Next, choose a concealer that’s a tone lighter than your foundation: apply to skin, concentrating under the eye (in a V shape) around the outside of the nose, and lips.

Set the under eye concealer with powder using a large, fluffy powder brush to help the foundation to last longer. Bring it down to the neck and lightly press it onto eyelids to remove any oil.

Step 3: Create a subtle contour

Create a subtle contour (not too dramatic!) and add warmth to the skin with a darker shade of powder or bronzer (we used Belle De Teint in shade 04 Belle de Miel) using a flat brush to buff and then a fluffy brush to blend in naturally.

Add blush to the apples of the cheeks and blend out to create a subtle, rosy glow.

Step 4: Create drama with Shadow

Prep eyes with and eyelid primer or base to help the eyeshadow to last longer.

Smudge some dark brown pencil eyeliner (we used Crayon Khôl in 028 Brun) along the lash line to add definition to the eye, and blend shadow over the mobile lid.

Next apply your chosen eyeshadow. For this look, we used the Hypnose Matte Palette in 108 Beige Brule which is a great investment as the colours are so universal. If you are choosing your own palette, you need a mid to light taupe colour and a mid-tone brown. Blend the taupe (we used the second lightest colour from the palette) all over the lid, and then blend the mid tone brown into the outer socket (we used the very left mid brown shade from the palette) to create a V shape to add definition.

Step 5: Define the eyes

Smudge the Brown Eye Pencil along lower lash line and blend for softness. Next, define the lash line with a brown liquid liner.

Step 6: Lashes

Prep eyelashes with an eyelash primer, then build up layers of mascara to achieve your desired look. We used Grandiose mascara for the application, but you might want to choose a waterproof one such as Hypnose Waterproof if you think you might be shedding a few tears.

Step 7: Define the brows

Pencil in any gaps in your brow with a defined eyebrow pencil, and brush through a brow mascara to set.

Step 8: Add brightness and definition to the lips

A slightly bright shade of lipstick helps your lips to stand out and look great in photographs. We lined the lips, buffing in the products to create a subtle line and then added L’Absolue Rouge in 343 Suspense to finish off the look.
